Anyone got any experience in spraying Hammerite? A quick search on the web says it can't be sprayed as it contains silicone, but that could be just the scare mongers on the forums

Hammerite comes in spray tins.
I have used tin hammerite in a spray gun with no problems, perhaps the fear is that there will be silicone residue left in the gun, I would think that the hammer effect comes from silicon content.
Silicone is the dread of all body shops, but I am sure that gunwash will clean it from the gun.

What is gunwash? I always just run pure white spirit through my spray gun after use and that has always kept it nice and clean.

If you want to spray Hammerite, I would use Hammerite thinners to thin the paint and to clean the gun.
I find that white spirit does not thin it very well, also the Hammerite thinners is more volatile so will help with the drying.
Gunwash is a cheap thinners sold for the cleaning of spray guns, if you use 2K or cellulose white spirit will not shift it.
