Deglazing the sleeve on 40+, is it necessary?

Do I have to deglaze the piston sleeve before assembly, I am using the original rings.

I would re-hone the bore
Would also check the end gap on the rings before re-using them. My rule of thumb on a seagull is 8-thou max end gap. Any greater & I'd toss them.
