Yamaha PC3 + Japanese interpreter required!

Rather than hijack Shistlepot's thread I thought I better start with a new one.
Dug this out of the cupboard. And, as we do, I couldn't help but turn the tap on and pull the rope. And it started! Unfortunately I and the motor were still in my flat. Not such a bright idea! Decided to pull the lower end apart and it all dismantled with ease.
The motor is definitely influenced by Anzani design. It has the same system of 360 degree rotation. It is air cooled with what appears to be a water tube in front of the prop. No pump.
I believe it to be about 1962 and possibly one of the first models that Yamaha produced. Will research further. I repacked the box with Penrite semi fluid grease (thanks Bruce). It doesn't have a grease nipple but a small screw plug which makes me believe it should have a heavy oil lubrication.
It has a centrifugal clutch mounted under the motor with another oil screw. Can someone translate this for me? I believe it to be oil instructions.

Tell you what, it has that Yamaha Wing Ding Ding motor scooter sound. I don't worry about the neighbours as, for some obscure reason, yet to be fathomed, they never stay long.
Actually it was the smoke that worried me.

I answered your other post before I opened this one and saw the photo.
Mine is a much later model and it has a neutral/go lever, and as I said a water pick up to cool the gear box

Hi Ed, there is a small diameter copper pipe that comes out of the exhaust that faces the thrust side of the prop which I assumes pushes a small amount of water into it. As the gearbox is already in the water I don't think there would be any concerns of that over heating. I believe it goes up into the block. I'll put a hose onto it and see where the water comes out and am fully expecting it to void from the exhaust. The P-3 was the second motor Yamaha produced.

Thanks Oyster. Waiting to hear back from yamaha but no word yet. It is an automatic clutch which I assumed to be centrifugal but that wouldn't require oil so am interested to know what method it uses.

You probably will find the forced water cooling pipe is a simmilar setup to an air cooled Tohatsu, its for cooling the exhaust tube just under the engine. The Tanaka 2.5 outboards came with an optional centrifugal clutch simmilar to whats on a chainsaw.

Thanks Daryl, I'm wondering why there is an oil filler plug at the clutch. I would have thought the clutch would need to be oil free to engage.

Have you checked if theres any oil in there? My Yanmar YSE8 diesel in the boat had clutch plates running in engine grade oil with the reduction gear box & didnt slip.

I suspect a runny grease would be just the job?

Seems quite advanced for early 60s, centrifugal clutch and a kill switch! Was this showing the brits the way forward?

@63cc I'll be interested to see how it compares with the forties power wise.
I didn't know there was a heat resistant grease. Will investigate.

Pulled the power head off and the water tube doesn't go up that far, so I think Daryl you are correct in thinking that it cools the upper exhaust area. Couldn't get into clutch area without major work so gave it a couple of squirts of semi fluid grease and I'll monitor any over revving when on the water. Still not sure what petrol/oil mix to use. I have 10/1 in the tank which is probably too rich but will give good lubrication.
