Hi everone,
my name is Julian (jay) I live in Lincoln UK, and I am new to boats, Seagull engines, and this forum, so please be gentle with me

I have a 40+ engine from 1963 and it runs very well indeed. my only bad point with this engine is its tank is very badly dented on the ends, and i'm talking caved in one end!

However it doesn't leak so I can still use it.
Speak soon
Jay

Hello jay - welome to the Forum. Most Seagulls have tanks which are bruised/bashed to some degree by now, but it seems that they do have to be seriously clobbered before they leak. Brass tanks have the advantage that they don't rust inside, but of course are a lot softer than steel tanks.
As you scour the forum pages you will find various cures for battered tanks including dismantling them to restore shape, and they do become available second hand, though rarely in really good condition.

Hi Rick,
Think I will give John a ring and see what he has, mine really is a bad bash as the end panel is almost inside out. I think if I even got the end off it would never look right, the rest of the engine is good and I think it may have had a lot to do with the courier who delivered it

, I got it off ebay for £70 and on the photo it looked like it had an easy life, and indeed the rest as I said is OK.
regards
Jay
