Email conversation.
B: Hi, you only state a county, could I have a post code.
S: No, only if you win the item (you've guessed)
B: A post code would only give me a street, an area would help.
S: Don't matter anyway, sold it elsewhere.
Still listed, with two days to go until listing ends.
And they still will end up getting away with it.

I'll need more than three guesses for this one. Do tell.
I am one of those who is constantly amazed at what goes on in the bizarre world of eBay.

OK, seller's location, is something like Hertfordshire. ( pick-up only)
Not a whole lot of use.
Emailed to ask postcode or town
Reply: NO only if you win the item.
Explained that I don't want his full address.
Reply: I've sold it anyway.
Still for sale with two days to go.

Sometimes an eBay transaction works well, from a friendly dialogue, a visit to view the goods, answers to questions etc, right the way down to people who take your money and then you hear nothing.
If I look back at eBay purchases the ratio of good to rotten is very poor, and there are a number of traders who are simply taking the ****

I wouldn't worry about it, its all par for the course on that site.
Its not the first time and its not going to be the last.
I have won items that have already been sold weeks before.
And some items that have even turned up the next day.
