Britannia MK II in Box

Well, did not take long for me to decide my first Post under this eh? I had a delivery just now "New Old Dear" in its box that I managed a buy it now on Ebay about 15mins after it was listed, surprised the heck out of the seller! He left to get fish and chips and returned to see it sold. We laughed.
Anyway, MkII Brit in case, manual, grease gun, Amal jet tool, set of BA ignition spanners, tarp bag and a classic tobacco tin!
Lets say about 1948.
I have checked bouncy compression and it sparks both plugs.
I originally bought this just for the lower unit for my MKIII with the "Wobble Pump", still like that description..........I have one new wobble rubber left so I reckon go with Prop Pulse for something useable Eh?
Most of the Welsh Plugs are growing "Out" so I will remove them and acid block clean before something breaks of course.

Of course, I trundled down the Bottlo' and got some pints.

We call "Welsh Plugs" Core plugs, Bruce!

Definitions : Welsh Plug
Sometimes wrongly called freeze plugs or frost plugs, are plugs that fill the core holes found on internal combustion engines. The sand casting cores are used to form the internal cavities in the engine block or cylinder head(s), usually forming the coolant passages.
Definitions : Core plug
Metal plugs in the sides of the engine block that pop out because of excessive pressure. This prevents the engine block from cracking in freezing conditions.

Today I did the three step Acid Clean because mechanically all is Outstanding. Acid cleans let you know what you have to work with and in this case, She is a Dear! I did not pull it apart as spark and comps are right up there with the best.
Fasteners always come up like new and future work is always easy!
Mind you, these things are NOT built to a budget! Very very class act indeed!
Do not forget the last step with Acid..................neutralise afterwards!
Old Dears come up like they left the factory sometimes..............
Casting plugs out maybe next weekend................have real work to do on my boat and want to go South very soon!

This one is really going very well, Old Dear is internally absolutely A1...... Well, apart from the broken flywheel key, no prob with that. eh?
I have 5 of these, MKI to MKIII.
I think that this one, out of the box, is the one that will get the most use! My (Only) MkIII has the rubber crap pump, while as new I would not trust it for duty.
Regarding ..........This one........It has a very different engine number? Any Info on that?

no i don't, i'm pretty new to the world of owning outboards, my forty is the first one but have been intrested in british engineering since leaving school! worked in the motor trade all my life.....worked on marine engines for 3yrs and thats where i got the bug!
you know how it is...one thing leads to another then you need a bigger garage!!!!

OK, This is Spark Plug Time, yes, these are the Original ones that looked so rusty in the early pics. (Including the Blure Ones)
Champion UK 17s, that was as installed for this Old Dear.
Acid Soak number 1 and cleaning up nice!

Core plugs out and a bit of sniggling about with wire, jackets clean.
The lower pot had more silt.
Thing is, I have to travel a bit next week to get new plugs!........SODS are a bit hard to come by it seems.

Need any bits (except core plugs). I've just broken one up for the power head.
Could send small bits cheaply.

Hey Collector Inspector, could you tell me what the acid you are using is? And how well does it work on cleaning up the rust in the water jackets.
