Hi, can anyone advise me on the paint to use when reconditioning a 40 plus on the cylinder block, crankcases, gearbox and fuel tank. Has anyone had the driveshaft tube re-chromed or painted in the past. the engine itself works well, pumps plenty of water and i am pleased with it so far, I had to unsolder the fuel filter from the tap to clear blockage in tap and then solder back together, this worked well.
I am on the lookout for a good brass tank for this if anybody has one going spare.
Also if someone has a spare transom clamp or wants to swap one for a clamp off a 102 it would be appreciated

Thanks

Andy I have a spare 40 bracket if you want to swap. As for block paint I use Halfords satin black Engine block paint for all my engines. Drive legs I paint now as chroming can be done locally it’s too dammed expensive, after brazing up skimming down and then chroming. But it’s all down to the individual a good etch primer and a few coats of silver Plasticoat works and if it gets scratched rub down and re-paint.
Sad i know i polish all the ali cases etc

PM me and let me know where in the world you are ?
