been on before with ongoing ignition problem with my fortyplus with clutch,
while i wait to take delivery of a electrical tester i have been having a good clean of the engine.
i noticed that my magneto has an recessed line going around the outside the full diameter of the magneto about 10mm up from the bottom edge.
i looked on the site at as many pictures of fortyplus engines as i could find and did not find one with the same indent ,could this be relevant to the ignition problems i,m having.
thanks, frank. leeds, west yorks.

My FPC circa 1978 has the same feature
When I got it I checked for a spark and got a supurb jolt. Made my hair stand on end somewhat

Without your full engine no one else know which engine type your asking questions about, hence the lack of answers!
