Hello... just bought a seagull (40+) for my tender. What a marvellous, hardy device! It must have sat for ages, because the spark plug connection was well rusted.
Fortunately I encountered 'Gerald', a seagull enthusiast in Uphill, Weston Super-Mare. Hope he doesn't mind me mentioning him! After selling me the missing bracket to fix it to my tender, he splashed some petrol in the tank and tried to start it.
No joy... no spark...
but he clearly wasn't giving up that easily...
1.5 hours later, after patient and systematic inspection and cleaning of electrical bits and bobs including an obstinate bit of HT casing stuck in the coil connector, it fired!!
He said he enjoyed the challenge...
How nice to meet someone like that.
Thouroughly restored my faith in human nature.
