Hi,
One of my seagulls came with a villiers carburettor and it has a brass throttle valve piston. My other engine was missing the carburettor but had the throttle cable with a brass throttle piston.
I have just got myself a repacement carburettor and it has an aluminium alloy piston.
Anyone know why there is a difference, or if it makes any difference which one is used?

Re: villiers carburettor piston
A difference in age perhaps.
Both my Seagulls ( '73 and '74 ) have aluminium alloy pistons in their carbs.
The Villiers carb on my very much older ( early 1950s ) lawnmower has a brass piston.
Apart from this, different needle sizes and plastic fuel bowls on the Seagull carbs there are the same as far as I know.
