Amal Carb headache!

Hi All
I have recently picked up a couple of old seagull's. One to power my little fishing boat and one to restore to do the same job!
The motor I am trying to restore is http://www.saving-old-seagulls.co.uk/i_ ... um=AC47401
The carb is a little past it's best, and it seems spares are thin on the ground ...
I am no technical wizard, but am wondering if there are any other carbs I can fit on to the motor, as many seem to be similar when I look at old bikes etc.
Aluminium doesnt seem to be the worlds strongest material, threads are falling out everywhere I look!
Hopefully someone can help, if not it will be some steel weld epoxy and good favour!
Thank you in advance, next questions will no doubt come when I free the gearbox housing.
