Saving Old Seagulls

As John posted a while ago on the main site, the Essex Flocking of Seagulls:

Saturday, 15th May 2010 we are the guests of the North Fambridge marina at the slip and pontoon on the north side of the Crouch at North Fambridge.

We aim to assemble about Noon, take a trip up river to Battlesbridge, the head of the navigation, then back for a meal in the Ferryboat pub.

Plenty of trailer and boat parking....

Common sense rules, wear lifejacket, have spare fuel and tools etc, no overloading

I have spoken to John and he confirms the flock is going ahead. Apparently the weather that weekend is going to be excellent! I shall be there with my son and grandson and am looking forward to some outstanding flocking.

Missed the two Thames bashes, now we have a gathering that is actually going to pass my mooring and I will be in deepest darkest Rosbulterrier land at the time!

This is a Seagull engine flock - think of the Lerryn, the Thames, the Bermuda and the New Zealand flocks all rolled into one, on the beautiful River Crouch in the county of Essex, one of the most unspoilt English counties and home of Saving Old Seagulls. If you do think of that, it won't give you any idea of what it will be like!

It is only an hours drive from London, easy to get to. The Ferryboat Inn is an excellent, quintessential English pub and we shall have a darned fine day.

TRW999 - does 'quintessential' mean expensive? Silly me, of course it does.
I have to persuade HID that socialising with sad buggers who choose to spot small noisy engines which sit at the back of little boats which prance up and down in water will be possible, affordable and worth her funding.

Actually thought of booking in the Ferryboat, then wondered whether her, me and the dog could camp in the boat . . .

RBT, I take it the dog wouldn't like to share it's bed with a wee, nae brain, hairy faced Scotsman????
Well it was just a passing thought but unfortunately my missus hates all things concerned with boats, so I've no chance of getting to Essex. Hope you all have a good time.

Gerard - had some doggerel with rosbullterrier. His cranium is composed of solid bone with infinitesimal grey matter.

At £70 a night for a double, sounds reasonable in this day and age, plus "Bar meals are served every day from 12 to 2 lunchtime and 7 to 9.30 in the evening. Again a vegetarian menu is available. The average cost of a bar meal is 5.50 GBP." Also sounds reasonable.

Since you are staying there, I assume you noticed this "The Inn is believed to have a poltergeist but, while we have seen some strange things, we are keeping an open mind! Don't worry, all of our quests have left the Inn in one piece! " And I hope that you enjoy being a 'quest'! At least they admit to seeing some strange things, so a flock of British Seagullers should not phase them.

P.P.S RBT Can you please look in the mud just up stream from your house in Lerryn, and see if you can find my stainless steel transom bracket that fell off at Christmas.

Yesterday during a beer in the pub we decided to join the Essex Flocking of Seagulls on 15th March and today we booked a ticket for the Hook of Holland – Harwich ferry. This is a nice opportunity to meet other Seagull enthusiasts and have a sail on British waters with our Seagull(s). Is there a possibility to rent or borrow a small boat for 2 persons and a SD?
