Hey Guys,

I just bought a mulitmeter and tested my coil like on the FAQ page. No reading. not even a 0. Does this mean i need to replace the whole flywheel?

Oh i just emailed the Guy George from johns Link page. How do i tell which ignition system i have?

Hello.
Just about all magneto coils are the same, that is they have two coils .
One (primary) is thick copper wire and almost never gives trouble.
The other (secondary)is very thin copper wire and breaks or rots through.
Right first have a close look at your coil for any cracks in the covering,if you find a crack cover it with a
good thick coat of epoxy resin glue .
Get your multi meter and set it to 2M on the ohms scale.
Find the wire that goes to the motor body, earth or ground wire.
Connect your multimeter leads to the plug cap or what ever fits onto your spark plug, meter should read
between 4 to 6 on digital read out.
Next connect meter wires again to the earth wire and the wire that goes to your breaker points
reading on meter should be 000.
If you get these readings coil is good.
How ever some coils may give these readings but still be near death do to a break in the fine
coil that at the moment is jumping the gap,but will fail at some time in the future.
Its not an exact science.Wipac has a metal plate with hole in holding plug wire.
villiers has a bent metal wire holding plug wire in.
