Hello all.
What is the normal compression reading for a Seagull century that has done a fair amount of work.
Mine is 65-70psi and I think this may be a bit low for a 100cc engine.
Any one any ideas ?
Thanks.
Regards all.
Ray.
p.s. The transom to motor bar (pivot bar) on my engine is brass.is this correct?

you should be happy. a new 102 motor was supposed to have about 60 psi but would still start on half that.so 65-70 is great!

the 64's were supposed to be about 135 psi new.they would also start with about half that at a pinch.

Yes the pivot bar is brass.

Check your compression tester. 50psi is very good.
The 40 compression should be greater. See:

Further to that.
What is the engine number? I'm very interested in whether that cylinder head makes a difference.
