What to do

trying to sell the Kingfisher 6.

Have had no offers, which seems odd!!

So what do I do?

Continue to store it.

Put it on the fifteen footer we are almost finished building and use it there.

Swop it for a Bonwitco ten footish on a trailer.

Any thoughts or has the depr/recession stopped trading.

OK I will be the one to say it.

You are asking way way way too much money. That is most probably the reason it hasn't shifted. Keep an eye on eBay for a while, Kingfishers do crop up occasionally, check out the prices.

Also if you pay top price for one that has never been used, the day you use it, the price plummets. You end up with a display motor that you can never use! Never-the-less it is a fine motor. Ebay it and let it find market price.

Late Seagull?

Have to say the price was high, but I thought it might make it if Kosher, however having seen the pics, though undoubtedly new, it was certainly not one of the last ones nor has it ever been properly stamped as the engine number is a real oddity. If it was kosher the date stamp would be on it. And it would have the 'T' prefix. Though the mixed colours the silver ones were not the last ones.. (The very late Seagull 6's were garish with gold tops and props!)

Agree it's a nice motor Biff, but as it is not 100% a collector would probably not touch it and anyone who wanted just to use it would want to pay a lot less... Good try though.

Hi all

The Kingfisher 6 was one that Dockerell Yachts put on their Dockerell 27 yacht. Does this explain the oddity numbers and colours?

Dockerell went bankrupt in the mid-nineties and all went to auction.

Any one interested make me a sensible offer

No still does not make sense. I wonder if it were one of those that walked out the back door and someone has tried to put a number on it to make it look right, without realising the intricacies of the Seagull date system..

Kingfisher 6 on a Dockerell 27?? All the ones I saw at boat shows had 2 cylinder Nanni diesels in them.. they did do a 19 ft version, could have been for that....

Still a nice motor if you accept it has a little dubious past! At £400 would be a good motor for someone not too woried about it's antecedance!
