Does anyone have a photo they could post of the [rubber?] pull cord handle for the rope start Seagull? I think they were factory issue at some point. That would be the semi- sphere shaped one. Thanks

May I advise that you chaps definitely need to get some sea time in or other fresh air pursuit - such a fervour of interest in the semi spehircal shapedness or not of the starting cord bobble -what trivia to clutter up valuable e space with.
Why in my case I have no time for such a silly distraction - I of course have my original 1973 cord and bobble (softish black plastic and nice tightly woven nylon cord) together with the original Owners manual. Sadly - and it still pains me to think of it, I receently had to dispose of the original Briitsh Seagull Polythene bag that the cord came in, sigh........

Well you are right about the sea time. However, I have several [9 at last count] Seagulls all with different start cord handles. As well, just finished working on getting 7 Seagulls going for a friend, out of the 7 one had what appeared to be the first proper pull handle I've seen.
If you've ever been whacked by a large wooden handle you might well be concerned about the proper pull start handle as well. Actually one recent non-Seagull, a 1931 Johnson I bought had a piece of 3/8"x6" steel as the pull handle. In the trash in a flash.

Apologies for repaeating an oldie - Yacht club newbie overheard to ask old sea dog which was better material for the yacht club tie - polyester or silk?
Reply ..... "Silk better for holding up the trousers but polyester tie better for starting the Seagull".....
