Anyway, going back to page two of this thread, you posted a drawing from freeship showing a design and sizes, is this HAs design? Also, can this drawing be copied and transfered to Feeship to reduce it to a 10ft boat?

Well as the HA has not given us any dimensions it is not his design

Almost done now, 12 hours so far.
I still have not been able to create the v front and flat stern on Carene

Need to get this one out of the way, materials for the new boat will arrive next week

There are some good deals on fibreglass cloth and tape at the moment on the bay.

80g Woven cloth less than a pound per square M. Looks like a canoe maker is shutting down.

Sorry to say I had to let it pass......... Hardly demanding old chap; left it to others to post the bird pics. Now if it had included an intricate puzzle construction or play on LARS and LARUS that would have been far more intriguing..........

Just rubbing it down for this years repaint.
I was working on the Semi-displacement theory. Bit of v at the sharp end then almost flat at the stern.

As the amount of V changes through the length of the hull I cant see how you could draw it with Carene.

From what I have read the flatter bit at the stern gives you a bit more hydrodynamic lift.

Also the good bit of V near the bow makes it more seaworthy.

The drawing that you have shown maintains the same v for the last two thirds of the boat.

Your going to have to spend more time playing with the motors & less on the computer, if your only getting 4 mph out of yours, tie a rope securely underneath the flywheel it should be much more efficient as an anchor.
Have a look at some of the race results most of those Seagulls are straight out of the shed versions.

Perhaps I will stick to 1mm plastic card and Tape

I had thought of building an Aluminium boat but where would I stick my Polyester resin? Would be cheaper than epoxy, but I would need to polish up my Tig skills.

like I said you can do any profile you want in Freeship

I thought that we were looking at how good and versatile Carene is ? I will look at freeships But I do find that Carene is a little limited.

Odd Mahogany £10.00

Total £102.00
Will test tomorrow, am sure that my sister inlaw will be pleased with her Birthday present.

She can paint it.

Takes about 20 hours in total.

How much resin is left over?

Not much, and in this weather the wastage is quite high. I always tend to mix too much with polyester, it is cheap so I can put up with a bit of waste.

Today the pot life was about 10 minutes.

For mixing I use 2L jugs from Tesco, they cost about 35p each.
I find that their shape makes the breakout of any surplus very easy.

It floats ,maiden voyage a great success.

First outing design load plus 140 %

Sister Inlaw brought a bit more weight than I expected. It handled it well, at times the free board was a little tested

Quick once round the Island and then to the pub (Thames at Walton). Back in time for the footy.
Now have space for the next boat.
