You may have seen this on The Bay. It did not sell.
I am posting it here for Huon as maybe one of us would be interested in the Old Dear as All of the hard work has been done already. Leave it up to you to contact him for further info and pics of the re-build process etc.
I have far too many of these so I can not add any more....................

THIS BEAUTIFULL AND RARE BRITISH ANZANI I BOUGHT OFF FRIEND COMPLETLY RUSTED. IT HAD NO COMPRESSION. LITTLE DID I KNOW HOW RARE THIS VINTAGE OUTBOARD IS COMPARED TO A BRITISH SEGALL FOR EXAMPLE. SEGULLS YOU CAN GET PARTS FOR BUT BRITISH ANZANI ARE VERY RARE AND A LOT OF EFFORT IS NESSASARY TO GAIN PARTS. I HAVE DONE MUCH RESEARCH ON THIS OUTBOARD, THE HISTORY BOOK CALLED OLD OUTBOARDS HAS A PICTURE OF AN 1948 OUTBOARD NOT EVEN AS COMPLETE AS THIS ONE. THESE ARE THE ONLY OUTBOARDS EVER MADE WHARE THE TILLER IS ALSO THE HEAD OF THE ENGINE WITH THE SPARK PLUG AT THE BASE OF THE TILLER ARM. THIS OUTBOARD HAS REMARKABLY NOT AN UNDERWATER EXHAUST BUT AN EXHAUST CHAMBER THAT DEPOSITS AT THE SIDE. WITH THE HELP OF A PROFESSIONAL RESTORER WE SET TO WORK AT RESTORING THE ANZANI. THE REASON IT HAD NO COMPRESSION WAS THAT THE HEAD GASKET HAD BLOWN BETWEEN THE CYLINDER AND THE WATER GALLERY. THIS MUST HAVE HAPPENED EARLYON IN ITS LIFE AS THERE IS NO BARREL WARE OR LIP AT ALL. THE OUTBOARD IS BUILT WITH J.A.P. COMPONENTS, THE FAMOUS ENGLISH MOTORCYCLE COMPANY. WE STRIPPED DOWN THE WHOLE ENGINE CLEANED ALL COMPONENTS, NEW GASKETS WERE MADE TO REPLACE ALL EXISTING. THE TANK, BARREL, EXHAUST CHAMPER AND MANIFOLD WERE ALL STRIPPED AND SPRAY PAINTED PROFESSIONALLY. ALL FUEL AND WATER AND LINES WERE REPLACED AND TOTALLY CLEANED, ALL CHROME AND ALLOY PARTS WERE TAKEN TO A CHROME PLATING FOUNDRY WHARE THEY WERE HIGHLY POLISHED TO A MIRROR FINISH. THIS COST A FORTUNE. NEW RUBBER TANK MOUNTS WERE OBTAINED AND THE WHOLE MOTOR CAREFULLY FUT BACK TOGETHER. NEW SPARK PLUG AND LEED AND EVEN NEW THROTTLE CABLE. THE PAIN WORK WAS MATCHED TO ORIGINAL COLOURS. YOU CAN SEE IN ONE OF THE PHOTOS THE CONDITIO OF THE MOTOR WHEN I OBTAINED IT AND NOW IT IS ABSOLUTE SHOW QUALITY. I DESPERATELY WANTED TO PUT THE ANZANI INTO AN INTERNATIONAL VINTAGE MOTOR SHOW BUT WE ARE BUILDING A HOUSE AND HAVE NO STORAGE AT PRESENT. THE TIMING HAS BEEN SET BY A QUALIFIED OUTBOARD MECHANIC AND THE MOTOR IS RUNNING SERPURBLY. 16 TO 1 RATIO. WE HAVE ONLY RAN THE MOTOR FOR 15 MINUTES BUT NO LONGER SO THAT IT REMAINS CLEAN AND IN SHOW CONDITION.
THIS IS A REAL PRISE AND I HOPE IT ENDS UP IN A MUSEUM OR TO A ASTUTE COLLECTOR.
I WILL NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORT FOR THE MOTOR BUT I WILL DO EVERTHING I CAN TO HELP SHIP OR TRANSPORT MOTOR INCLUDING PACKAGING IT PERFECTLY.
