I'm after a puller for the early domed magneto. I'm hesitant to use the usual method of hit and pull due to the soft alloy damage. If anyone sights one on ebay or elsewhere could you drop me a line.

Thanks Hugo.

Thinking about why would hitting the nut on the domed magneto models cause damage to softer alloy of the flywheel when the shock is passed down the crankshaft and not directly onto the flywheel. Somewhere I read about this on the forum. Can anyone enlighten me?

Cheers Hugo

Hugo the thread is if I remember right,

1 1/8" 16 tpi imperial 55 degree, Left hand.

Chop up an old drive shaft tube & get somebody to turn a thread on the OD & weld a fine threaded nut on the end, Inset a pointed suitable bolt & hey presto.

Thinking back Hugo & measuring the OD of the 1 1/8" I did make it 10 to 12 thou undersize, to ease insertion in 65 year old threads.

I'll bare that in mind. Prefer tight fit but that is only a small tolerance.

They are getting pretty long in the tooth!

Thanks Hugo.

A while back you were investigating different plug reach for the short water jackets.... did you come to any determinations?
