Hi, I have an FVP which has a plastic impellor fitted but I believe the original was bronze. I have the oportunity of casting a new one in bronze but I need the dimensions of the orginal unit so that I can make a pattern. Can anyone give me the dimensions of the original bronze unit or suggest suitable clearance allowances so that I can have a guess and make a pattern.
Regards,
Dave

There were cetainly some bronze impellors, later ones were aluminium :

Note the corrosion on the aluminium version.

Both of these are built up into motors at present, so I'll have a root round to see what else I may have. If anyone else has one, feel free to measure and post!

Be aware that the drive shaft itself on these early forties may well be a thinner section than later models, which means the square aperture needs to be smaller than a standard plastic component.

OK I have a bronze one from an FV.

Shaft outside: 12.87mm
Shaft inside: 9.69mm

Disc : 27.58mm
Overall (vanes outside diameter): 38.25
Height: 14.23mm
Vane thickness: 4.24mm
Disc thickness: 3.54mm

All those measurements are decimal, then I remembered that's maybe not what you use over there, sorry!

The casting is a very rough piece of work, so all measurements are very approximate.

Hope that helps

Thanks Charles, that will be a great help. We have been using metric measurements for some time but I can still speak both 'languages'.
Thanks again, best regards,
Dave
