Hi Again re the jambed cable or slider ,< the carberetta , is an amal on a 110 seagull so quite a modern one as far as they go , , have tried to soak in wd40 to no avail although not made a well at top to soak down the
cable outer , but have taken the rubber grommit of the carb end of the cable , and tried lifting the slider that way , but it doesnt move well only a fraction so not sure if its the cable moving or the slider , on the top of the carb, where the cable goes in there seems to be two nuts, and at the edge of the top plate is a screw, do i need to undo the centre nuts to remove the cable , or the screw at the outer edge of the top , and if the slider is seized, how do i free it , any help much appreciated ,thanks in advance .

Take the carb off complete with cable , and put in a bucket of red diesel for a week .

That will be the Amal 416 with the black plastic bowl. Just undo the outer screw and the whole lot should slide out. After you get it out you'll need to screw down those nuts to get enough slack in the cable to remove. It's a bit fidderly!
