I have never cut and pasted to repeat what anybody has said .
It implies you think we couldn't read or understand the passage the first time, if you feel you have resort to do that then it can't be very clear what your writing about . Perhaps try to write something original ?
As for repeating the tank picture / pun / joke , seems cabin fever has set in early this year ~ and if you have the time to be so hilarious ,could you take the time to pen something of more interest to replace what I used to contribute or forward it to Ricky Gervais where you might have a bigger audience and be appreciated for your true worth .
I find both of theses practices rude , first to the original author , second unnecessarily bulking out the flow and disrupting the rhythm of conversation making it potentially more difficult for new / other readers to understand or want to continue reading.
People who might want to use it as a reference in the future simply won't .

Others might find my view less than robust or high handed , may be ~ but then your reading this , not writing it .
John and the moderators will ultimately decide I guess , but at this point I don't feel inclined to contribute further where a thread continues to be picked off .
In the Hobby / passion of seagull outboards there is so little material and not that many of us , I would have thought it would be better to stick together and support each other rather than tank the piss out of me .

Chilli Dog I really don't think anyone was trying to take the p***s at all, merely joining in. I actually thought ther brass tank joke was quite a good one. I view these threads as being like a bunch of blokes yarning over a few beers - sometimes someone throws something in to get a laugh.

It was the double image that caused the concern me thinks.... bit bright....need sunglasses 8)

I'm on a mission now to find a brass spark plug. They have tickled my fancy. Would compliment the coppertop SD's.

I certainly had no intention of making fun of your post, Chilli Dog. In fact I truly respect what you post on here, have learned a lot from your experience and admire the work you do on Seagulls.
The mates here know that I love brass as a fuel tank color (as my pics on the Seagull Facebook page shows) and I sometimes like to plug it in while having a beer with the blokes.
Sure sorry if I offended you.
I also found H.-A.'s brass tank pic quite funny and even shared it with my wife (who thinks we waste a lot of time on here)
Cheers Mate!

okay guys I accept that , thank you ,hard to understand where people come from at times isolated in front of a screen with out feed back . Now I guess you all know I dislike the copy and paste /repeat idea . :|

Moving on......... I've explored Charles idea re the leads and plugs . I've disregarded the older plugs at this time due to not knowing where to source some and would they be reliable, cost , etc .After all I expected to use this motor !
But look at this http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 121967.htm

your thoughts ?

Looks a bit tacky to me plus if you are in rough water you don't want moisture on the porcelain as the electric charge will track causing a non combustion.

Unfortunately the original Seagull Bakelite caps are becoming scarce.

In my travels around the net I came across this great clip out of Bermuda , last years race ,2011 I think .
you can learn so much from one photo . I'm going green over some of the parts on this motor . What I like most of all is the fuel line , rev counter and that it gets used !
Take a few hours to clean the old girl up again after the race . Just like the owner of this bronze Bermudian beauty , I'd like a bronze carb and the throttle lever he has .
Let me know if any body can help me out in regard to these .
Hope to do this race one year these guys look like fun :D
enjoy seagull porn http://youtu.be/6owwo_m4QNo

Brilliant. The two main rules seem to be -- all boats to have tiller extensions -- no life jackets allowed.

You can't see from that picture but that is an ON cylinder, it's got fins!

And I've seen the owner start it by hand, no rope.

Life jackets, vhf radios, flares mandatory & must be registered boats.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

I think the race was about 5 years ago. Charlesuk will know.

Brass tank mounts look good.

As do the brass carbys, though quite rare:

Alas even the fuel lines are now few and far between. Not sure why.

A brass transom bracket, but I see you have similar.

John has the brass trumpets though.
