Finishing touches before it gets to work.
I fitted the replacement Carb (thanks Tam)
fitted new filter, checked the gear oil, checked plug gap and made sure I have the right size spanners for all the nuts.
I have a special hose coming to back flush as I see some mud in the water pipe
only other thing I wonder about is petrol/oil ratio, I know it is a 25/1 mix but would I be better with increasing oil to 20/1
its going to have a good few trips, nothing more than a couple of miles at a time.

With the replacement Carb from Tam fitted I set it up this morning, backflushed the waterway with one of these

and got soaked to the skin
very little dirt came out so guess its clean,
filled the bin,
Then pulled the cord and it started right away, I ran it until the fuel tank was empty without a problem, a good 30 minutes on half power
so next time I start it I will be using it on a boat in Caithness
Bye Bye rowing, Bye Bye bad back, Hello the far end of the Loch
thanks everyone for all the help and advice
My next project is I am going to buy a non runner and over the Winter strip it down and rebuild, having looked through this forum I think most things are covered in detail but I am sure I will have lots of questions.
thanks

Thanks for all the help and advice, the motor did everything I needed, I put it on a boat on Loch Watten, the other anglers were using Yamaha, Suzuki and other exotic makes, I noticed a few funny looks and a smile or 2, we rowed out of boat bay, I pulled the cord and it started first time, gently away then increased the revs and we powered up the loch,
it took me up the North bank where I got this beauty

the next day saw us fishing Badenloch near Kinbrace and here it is ready to roar

A funny thing happened on Badenloch, about half a mile up the loch the Seagull stopped, right out in the middle where no fish are usually feeding, my pal cast his fly and instantly a fish, we hooked trout after trout for an hour, I then pulled the rope and again it fired up
$od Yamaha when Seagulls have built in fish finders :P
