I use this boat to test all of my vintage motors, and it will do 25 mph with my 1956 Johnson 15 hp, and I might take it out Saturday with my Seagull.

How much does the boat weigh and what is the aft deadrise angle?

Does your 25mph speed mean it planes?

Hi, Mick here Danny's pal and co-owner of the 102. I think this is going to be a good year on the water for us! My partner can't make her mind up yet as to which of us is Foggy and who is Clegg "couple of old buggers messing around in boats" or "Boys and their toys!" I'm sure you've all had it at some time. May one day post a pic of myself on Clunie loch late last year "under sail" using an umbrella in a plastic inflatable!!! (Hey it worked)

yes it planes, weighs 112 pounds dry

will plane with my 1950 Evinrude Fleetwin 7.5 hp at 16.8 mph

Try them both on a 16 ft. or longer canoe, your hull is holding you back.

Thanks Phill, at the time all I had was 2 sheets of 8' x 4' plywood, and I wanted to make a clinker boat on the lines (but not the length) of the Tasmanian 'Piners Punts'.

I think I will try one with enough of the end cut off to give a 25 cm transom for mounting a Seagull or other low powered motor. The local building supply had some mertani 5.2 mm on for $17 a sheet 5 ply probably not waterproof, but should be ok with epoxy sealer on it. At least to give it a try.

That does indeed look interesting. Let us know when it is finished. I've always thought an international standard boat for a seagull would be a good thing. I've never built a boat but reckon that would be a good one to start with. I would be looking at having two bulkheads together in the middle so I could cut it in half and put it in the back of my transit and bolt back together at waters edge. I would also like to have a designated area to store a second motor plus flotation so I wouldn't lose the motors .

Will be interested in HA's views.
