I concur with the fuel cap. Nothing wrong with that
I'd like to know what Keith thinks is wrong with it though. I'm curious...


They do look nice with a coat of paint here and there just to tidy things up a bit. All of the aluminium parts will polish up great with some elbow grease.
As for the fuel tank it comes down to a matter of preference, and i can see the appeal of wanting to leave it as is.
The other age related parts will come together in time.

For now anyway it runs, which from a relative newbie is no mean feat. Well done that man.

It is a "small eared" cap, with flat tops to the ears.The 3 LS's that i have are all the same, just like this one.
Later ones from around '55 onwards (thereabouts) had a more rounded top to the "ears". Otherwise called "big ears" to some of us.
102's seem to follow the same pattern as well if you're interested.

Hi All, i've been busy the last couple of years, I just thought I should let you know I've offered it to Beamish Museum, they are building a 50s village, I got a reply saying right now with this lurgy they aren't taking any items but to get back in touch once things settle down.

Finally got a reply from The Beamish Museum, they have been working their way through 1000s of offers and they do want this Seagull, I'll be taking it up next week, if you ever get the chance to visit Beamish it's a great outdoor museum, this Little Forty should be somewhere in the new 50s village.
Can I once again thank everyone for their help and for supplying parts to allow me to get it running.
