The two brackets you have are basically the same however it should not be painted.

It’s a special gearbox grease (00/000) for open and closed gearboxes in industrial use. It’s thin but thicker than the EP140. The EP140 was leaking not to less, so I think when oil comes out water will come in. And it’s not an engine for daily use, maybe a some few hours a year or as a exhibit. Shouldn’t be so worse I think. But I’ll keep it in mind.Oyster 49 wrote: Mon Jan 03, 2022 12:33 pm Don't put grease in the lower unit, it will result in little or no lubrication to the gears and pinion bush. If you put 140 grade oil in and fill it to just below the level of the prop shaft it will be fine.
The real difference is at the mounting of the drive shaft tube. One of them has a plate for securing the engine when it’s lowered. The other one only has a rusty formed plate. Maybe I should take some more pictures?Oyster 49 wrote: Mon Jan 03, 2022 12:35 pm The two brackets you have are basically the same however it should not be painted.
Repeat. Do not put grease in the gearbox. Use correct 140 grade oil which will form an emulisfied gloop and will flow around the gears. Grease will not emulsify with the water and you will not have any decent lubrication. A bit of leaking oil from the gearbox is a good thing.Johanna wrote: Mon Jan 03, 2022 7:25 pmIt’s a special gearbox grease (00/000) for open and closed gearboxes in industrial use.
