There would have been no use for a small outboard on the landing beaches
Got some relatives that would have found a use for an inflatable and an OB at Dieppe........
how do you make one/get one for DIY use for small money?
Build a cabinet, buy an air compressor, buy a nozzle unless you can DIY a compressor and tank there wont be any small money involved.

hi guys
going back to a slightly earlier thread on the usage of seagulls during ww2,the other 2 charles have said they've done some research into this.
i for one would be delighted to know if there are any records available to back this up.
i tried a little while ago going through the imperial war museum etc. and eventually got redirected to the REMY museum where my research petered out to nothing!
i'm sure a lot of other owners of sd's sn's and the like would love to know if their actual motor saw actual "action under fire" so to speak.
has anybody else thought about this?

They were use in WW2, by bridge building units who had seagulls to move pontoons around. So far I have found some footage of one in use by the army in the hamburg floods in the early 1960s. However we are still searching for pictures etc. of wartime use. A veteran Sapper who frequents one of the WW2 forums has confirmed He used them. Sooner or later a picture will turn up, as more and more old pics are getting put on line.

Just for interest sake, in my shed I have an Evinrude Row Boat engine (knuckle knocker) awaiting restoration that I can best estimate is a 1916 vintage. I often ponder why was the motor imported half way through the first world war. Someone had a cunning plan.
