Additionally, the corroded orifice is inside the opening next to the float about 3/4". Did you look deep enough?

I put my Seagull on my inflatable about a week after my last post. It started on third pull and my wife and I toured the harbor, a journey of three or four miles. It ran flawlessly for 35 or 40 minutes. John, I am curious to know if the vent in any of the Bing carbs you have are blocked. It's not possible to determine a blockage with a visual inspection. Did you try to run a wire or bit through the orifice. The two carbs that I have were most likey used in salt water which may explain why the vent was corroded shut in both.

Very interesting, I am just back from a few days on the boat, (it's Trafalgar Day) will have another look at the Bings I have here when I have cleared the backlog!

If I can blow through that hole with a can of WD40 with the nozzle on I' guessing they are all going to be clear.

Back in the next couple of days.

Pleased to hear yours is going OK anyway!

I just checked the carb off my GFPC as it was on the bench and waiting on some parts from John....and the air pressure equalisation hole was clear right thru with no sign of any corrosion.
So that's one more without the problem :)
But that float pin does look tricky to remove....how does one go about getting it off without wrecking the clips????

It can be removed by sliding it out with needle nose pliers. It will just barely clear the rim. I would not try to spread clips.

In a new or unplayed with Bing the float retaining pin will not move at all without opening the "clips", I can't see any other reason that Bing would go the the expense of cutting those two slots if the holes were drilled big enough for the pin to slide.

I use a small Jeweler's flat bladed screwdriver (the one you use on your reading specs) to lever them open a very small amount.
