If you look at the 102 advert it is distributed by Rasch Motors. Interesting there was a Rasch Motors in Adelaide (South Oz) that had a stand at a car show in 1928. They sold English cars including the 'ding ding' Sunbeam.

I liked the Nash car motto "Leads the World in Motor Car Value". Sorta sounds familiar even if it was 20 years to early.

The wheels are in motion to peruse the early Seacraft magazine. Have to say though the wheels are about as slow as a bargepusher in hibernation. Join library.... wait 48hrs....order magazines....wait 48hrs and then I'm only limited to see six at a time Blah! starting from 1946 onwards. Hope it reveals some good info and maybe some articles. Anyway, lucky to find them.

Hi this is the tank on my 1956 SJP 3462

Was this a sole QLD AUS distributer of seagulls or oils? Remember I'm fairly new to the seagull.
Cheers Bob

We don't know yet. We are just at the beginning of our search.

Good info there: Overland Engines and Parts Pty Ltd, 49 Constance Street, Valley, Brisbane. Wonder if they had anything to do with the Willys Overland 4WD?

Good find, Thanks.

Here is a known advert with Australian Distributors: December 1948
Edit: Note the Qld distributor was known as Overland Ltd and was in Wickham Street, Valley. A change of name and premises took place between 1948 and '56 as above post from Bob.

I/2 page advert. June 1949. Note almost two years later from Bird advert and they have gone from full page to half page.

Our seagull man had competition! That looks like an Anzani Minor. I sense a bit of tongue in cheek corporate strategy here.

I did notice by 1950 Anzani had started adverstising and BS was less represented. I'll have at look at 1951 to 1955 next week.

Yep, It is the same mob Spedding Ltd. My advert was in the December 1946 edition of Seacraft. Looks like they were still using the picture of the same motor ie a C. Looks like the Brass skeletal bracket without the hook over transom G clamp bits. Anyone know if they made those for bolt on only use?

Thanks Charles.

Anyone know about an Olympic spark plug of that era? Were they Australian?

Some great work there Hugo. It's also very interesting to see the advert for the Anzani sports twin. I have not seen a picture of one of those before, but I have seen an engine stripped down at another enthusiasts house. Very rare indeed now.

When did Anzani finally cease production, was it in the seventies or earlier?

As I progress through the decades that will be revealed. Looks as though I now have an in with The Naval Historical Society of Australia (Inc.) which might shed some more insights.

My interest are Anzani, Riptide (Australian) and British Seagull. I also see the Coventry inboard mentioned a few times but not your outboard yet :P

This is interesting from an Australian point of view. August 1960
Restrictions lifted August 1960.JPG
A later address too. The doors of research keep opening.
