Contact Shell and see if you can get some Strombus. It is an oil designed to be used on sternglands. It has recently been discontined but there is still some around. One of our old salts has put it to the test with excellent results. You may need to buy in bulk though.

I have written quite a bit on this topic in past posts but this is what I use in the UK. eBay number 371112779828 at 13GBP per ltr; Smith and Jones Classic 140 oil. Holds a good emulsion of at least 15%+ before free water will develop. not quite as good as shell Strom that I use in Australia but very much cheaper.

Note: Charles's comment above; do not use synthetic oils designed to repel water. they will not form an emulsion that is critical to non sealed gearboxes. Check with the manufacturer before purchase.

A "young salt" just doesn't have the same credibility.... I'm sure Hemingway would agree :P
