Re: Juvenile seagull FVP 5750
Hope this help,s 3 washers very thin just like shims ,,,!,,Hugz wrote:Oh goody... dont you love it when you buy a box of bits and years later you find the bit you want. Ok, anyone prepared to pull their FVP throttle apart to see what I'm missing apart from the spring? I'm thinking a washer or two and the shape of the middle fastener.
Re: Juvenile seagull FVP 5750
I believe the washers are shims to position cable holder inline with entry port. Great now I have the idea. Put mine together using what is on hand. Rather than a spring I've used the later method of concave washer to create tension/friction. The saddle is a bit tight so will knock up something. Will do until I source an original. These are are a bit of a transitional lever between the SD type and the bread and butter chrome jobs (amal?).

Uh oh... grease in the box. Fortunately it hasn't deteriorated. Looks like it is fresh from when it was put in storage 30 years ago.
You are right about the securing collar Jeremy (of course). Interesting concept.

Make sure that when cleaning the inside of box...................you do not attempt to clean the outside.
Originality Rules so I have been led to believe. "Dinosaur bumps and scratches" remember?
The lever is a Villiers one....................you do have a villiers carb so go and use it.
This is of Villiers MK5F arrangement. Same lever.
Need to see smoke in the backyard soooooooooon.

"dinosaur bumps and scratches"
Sometimes these old bumps and bruises are better off not being there at all. (the metal mice have certainly been nibbling away at this one!
)
My latest LS i'm working on at the moment with plenty of corrosion almost everywhere.

My FV 3364 is now in Tasmania, been a few months getting across the Bass Straights. Unfortunately it's still up north. Must find time for a drive to pick it up. Watching your video has added emphasis. Re the wheelie bins, I see you have kept the prop on and still get water flow. I have a metal tank set up in my workshop adjacent to my bench so that I can easily test under cover... but I guess its not quite large enough as I always must remove the props, even on the FV's, if I want water to flow.
Just for info I keep the tank full of inhibited water.

Yes, they always say to remove prop in direct drive motors when testing in enclosed containers but truth to be told I never have and have always had good water flow. Maybe my wheelie bins are large enough to not have too much turbulence.
Never seen such corrosion Jon. That one could certainly have benefited with a sacrificial anode...

What you can see in the photos are the scars from where a "horrid looking homemade rudder attachment" (now in the scrap bin) was originally fitted?
i've still to clean up the metal back to somewhere where it's possible to weld up the holes and any dings etc.
This motor was incomplete when i bought it,but slowly slowly i'm making progress with it.
With a bit of luck,i'll give it a spin in the test bin this week and see what happens! (fingers crossed) BUT with 25psi compression i'm not expecting too much just yet!!!
definitely got my work cut out with this one.
at least it's not seized (been there before with my other LS)
