I'm not dead yet, just not as mobile as I was.

Thanks for your good wishes gentlemen, but that won't ease my trip through the airport metal detectors & my rapidly developing fear of rubber gloves.

I edited that last sentence & changed passage to trip!

Just spoken to the silly old fart on the phone. He's alive. Just.

No, he didn't get run down by an omnibus; no, he didn't fall out of a boat; no he wasn't doing any DIY heroics.......

....he just fell over...!!!

In his OWN HOUSE....!!!!

Apparently, two steps up the stairs, he changed his mind, reversed direction, and went arse over tit. Got up feeling a bit worse for wear and discovered his leg was a bit painful.

Got a lift to the hozzo, only to discover he had fractures in both tibia and fibula (left), and at opposite ends of the shin...go figure.

But rather than plaster, the surgeons cut his leg open, bunged in a couple of self-tappers with the trusty 18V DeWalt cordless, and sent him home the next day. Coulda done it himself, if he knew one end of a drill from the other.

Allegedly this will get him back on his feet a bit quicker, and so he "might" be back on both pins in time for Hayling Island, but will probably need assistance lugging boats and motors and so on.

So can everyone stop feeling sorry for him and "'ave a laff" at the silly old git. As he said himself, and I quote: "you've gotta laugh, don't you?"

And yes, I know, my turn will come..!!
