Saving Old Seagulls

I suspect you have just told me the answer, the tub is too small!

Use an old barrel or similar. water has to be 2" up the exhaust tube, the straight bit, and remove the drive spring on the prop.

The tiny pump is easily upset by turbulence.

The exhaust should not be able to slash the water out, the prop will!

Take it out on the boat and have fun,

I use an old domestic cold water storage tank. No problems with that even with the prop on but I guess not every one wants to keep an old water tank. The big Evinrude (well 6hp) tends to throw the water over the edge of the tank but that has FNR gears so no problems there either.

A dustbin* is an adequate size. Thats what we have at the boat yard.

*aka trash can I believe in some remote parts of the globe!

We have an old domestic cold water tank at our yacht club, too. It has false transoms of varying heights on each of the four sides, to cater for different shaft lengths.

Lats time I used it someone had put a goodly dose of detergent in it. I left a Century running for a few minutes while I went in search of a coffee.
