Seagull BSF tool kit

I received my spanner kit today.
The King Dick 85 degree offset spanner is excellent for undoing the top of the drive tube, no more rounded nuts or scraped knuckles.Together with the other 3 spanners this is a very good buy if you are seriously into Seagulls.
Highly recommended.
Thanks very much Charles.

Well found Charles,

Many thanks,
John

The places Seagulls have migrated to.
Seagulls are very widely travelled motors I have sent toolkits in the last week to the following places. Panama, Sweden, Holland, Bermuda, Northern Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia & New Zealand.
The largest quantity 13 for any one country are going to Bermuda, this must speak well for the interest that Seagull racing generates, in the care & prolonging of the lifespan of these humble little motors.
Are there any bets on where the strangest destination for these toolkits will be?
Panama must be the winner up to now.
I'll keep you informed.
To avoid getting caught in the Christmas postal panic I am planning on stopping shipping the kits on Decenber the 10th & if there are any left, I will be resuming in the new year.

Seagull 85 degree spanner
What a joy to use!
No wonder all the Seagull workers had one! Having always used conventional spanners, with difficulty, this is a great addition to my SOS tool kit!
I heard this week that my new Stainless Steel Multi Spanner is well on the way to full production. Not a patch on the 85 degree one, but designed to be able carry afloat, a simple Seagull type spanner , one that does not dissapear in a pile of rust, hope it will be appreciated.
Will advertise it on the News and For Sale pages when its ready.
Regards,
John

Well, Charles, your tool kits seem to be going down extremely well. Maybe we should post our 'wish lists' here to give you ideas for your next exercise?
As John says, the offset spanner is the star of the show, but I'm sure the others will earn their keep.
Now I'm looking for:
1) A foolproof tool to get the middle bolt from a water pump housing that doesn't damage the casting, doesn't make me curse, and won't wreck the slot in the screw head.
2) A tool to remove those brass oil filler plugs from 1940's and early 1950's gearbox end caps without resorting to violence and bad language.
3) Bit late for this year, but I feel a gap has been left by the political correctness shown by Pirelli in their calendar for 2007. Perhaps a Seagull one should be produced. I'll happily volunteer to let the photographer use any of my small collection, and the models can change in my house. In fact I can be in charge of the wardrobe. Have to be done after May, that's when daughter moves out....

I hate to be a bit of a bore...
...but isn't the tool about which everyone is raving more properly called an "obstruction spanner"? I thought an "offset spanner" is one where the plane of rotation of the head is in a different plane of rotation of the handle, e.g., below:

For the life of me I couldn't figure out why an "offset spanner" would be of more use that a regular spanner, but an "obstruction spanner", yes, I can see how that would be useful to remove that nut between drive and silencer tubes. Makes sense now.

Sorry about my poor usage of the English language.
But never mind that, how did you get that offset spanner picture on that post.
Could you please formulate some idiot proof instructions for getting pictures posted.
I suppose I ought to ask John first, to see if he has room for the torrent you are about to unleash, there are some size restrictions, can you explain direct to John how you worked this magic.

placing pics on here!
Cracked it Charles!
You have to copy the location of the pic you want to print, from anywhere on the net.
You then click the image button above, paste in the link then hit the image button again, or at least that's how I did it, see the pic on my post above. this means the pic is elsewhere on the net, or on this site, so is not adding to the space used on the forum, clever!
Hope it works for you
Cheers,
John

Thanks for your offer Charles
Thanks for your offer Charles we've decided to follow it up & would like to use your house in Poole as a changing/makeup room.
Rick, John & I all felt it would be more appropiate if the models & the motors, that they were draped across, were the same age & both shown in all their glory.
So to follow that on, You will be supplying all the post war motors & models,
John will do the classic era 1960-1980 & I will do all the late stuff, QUBs , 5R, Seagull sports,
Don't moan, you ungreatful ***, Rick is going to get the Marstons!

This is the first time I’ve had chance to visit SOS since returning from my Christmas vacation nearly a month ago. Anyway, thanks for sending the great tool kit Charles; I’m currently rebuilding (mostly cosmetic since the internals are in excellent shape) my latest addition to the flock the Silver Century Plus that I bought from Sean in San Francisco. The tools have already paid for themselves. Good quality and highly recommended.
Northern Star’s refit is well under way and should be back in the water by early May.
