It is an odd poll, as you can only vote on what you have or had experience with.
Marstons wont get many votes, as most owners won't admit to owning one, strange but true, a bit like the masons, but with an oily hand-shake.
Most owners have had, or still have 102's, so a pre-war one will be a desirable motor and will get the higher votes.
I was under the impression that Seagulls were bulletproof, it doesn't show on seagull river outings, as 80% of the motors running are plastic tank motors, so not showing off the best that saving old seagulls is about, it must be an age thing, but I don't consider post sixties all that vintage.
By the sounds of things CharlesP had more vintage gulls running in the middle of a field than ever seen on the water, its a shame.

Or even the top part of the finger of a Marigold rubber glove, cut to length and slipped over the cap.

33 votes cast, with the post war 102 just edging in front. Keep the votes coming, and remember this is just a bit of fun :D

Just voted for the 170, am I nuts?? brings back memories when my Dad bought a new one back in the eighties, thought he was mad buying a seagull instead of a Mercury or OMC and think that after a year or two he thought the same, luckily he sold the boat and engine before it packed up although he did run it on something like 25 to 1 fuel oil mix as instructed by Seagull.
To be honest it did have character, used to weed up the water inlet all the time, rattle and vibrate like it was powered by the devil but could not get over the power it had for something with a little over 100 cc, just a pity that they did not get the reliability right to carry on a great british product and Company

Results as follows:

1. 40 plus/minus with 28% of the vote

2. Post war 102 engines with 20% of the vote

3. Joint century series and SD models with a joint 30% of the vote  They will be forming a coalition, but will it last?

Of interest 2 votes for the 5R (Both owners voted then!) and only 2 votes for teardrop exhaust Marstons. (Both voters are currently in the pub car park, shaking hands oddly, whispering to each other, and looking furtive)
