Good thought. I had contemplated the same thing here, but was thinking TAFE or Uni "film school" doco crew, being cheap and probably able to 'rort' a camera from somehwere - proper broadcast quality DVC - with post-production being part of their course, and THEN look for a market, perhaps Discovery channel..??

We are still in the early planning stages and I have recently sent out a Survey Monkey-based survey to extract some 'anonymous' reponses to some of the ideas and proposals. This survey is due to close today, so if anyone is interested in the Murray trip and has not already done the Survey, feel free....I'll leave it open another 24 hours just in case....

This is just a reminder to those from outside Oz that we are now only 12 months out from the Greatest Ever Seagull Event [ ] so if you had any vague thoughts about attending either the whole trip - 2500kms over five weeks - or even a partial trip, say one to two weeks - you will need to contact me and get on the mailing list as henceforth, most info will be via email and not the forum.

The survey results were interesting: it appears that the things I was concerned people would not like about the proposal everyone was comfortable with - like co-purchasing a Support Vehicle - but as someone from NZ suggested, it will be easier and cheaper if we simply take turns driving it, rather than paying someone to do it.

But even camping out and sharing some of the costs, it will still be something like AUS$2500 absolute minimum, and that will only cover food and fuel and campsites.

But if anyone is keen, our members will assist with sourcing a boat, but you'd probably be best advised to ship your own motor, and we can arrange to store and deliver it if needed.

So if you're interested and haven't let me know already, please do get in touch.

Also, if anyone is not up for the "Seagull-powered" event, a couple of the Kiwis have decided to do it faster with tinnies and 20HP 'moderns' around about the same time, so if you would prefer that option, let me know and I'll put you in touch with them.

Needless to say, our members will assist with airport transfers, accomm, boat storage etc, and the logistics will be covered by what the rest of us are doing, so that should not be a concern. Let me know if you are interested in the Trip Of A Lifetime!

Oh, and I promise we will only be doing it once!!! So it's now or never, people! LOL

Dont I wish! Sounds like the trip of a life time. If I had to build something to float down on, I'd be sorely tempted to build a catamaran from long run roofing iron as a nod to the 'tin tippees' beloved of kids (or were, pre-electronic everything....) and from a durability point of view there would be few if any problems with grounding or snagging it and plenty of room for my junk and a comfortable deck chair/car seat. Bon voyage, I'm jelous as all get out.....

Not to mention how many ear plugs one would go through !

Earplugs? What was that you said? lol

Sit far enough forward and you don't need them, really, especially with a 102 or Kingie....
