Cahilp3 -

Nicely done - landing such a tolerant lady, that is.

Your Seagull is turning out to be a very nice example, too. But what the hell is fairy liquid?

20 " transom . The boat has alot of freeboard. max hp is 10 but worked fine with my original century plus which sadly got badly bent when I caught the back end of the boat with a tree. I shouldn't have reversed the trailer with the outboard still on the boat It's a while back before ebay and my local marine shop couldn't repair it. I really miss starting with a clutch.
Just measured the longshaft -- 23" to cavitation plate . Is my outboard to deep ? I may start a new topic.
The boat is very similar to an Arran 14 but the Crescent has more bouyance built in

As soon as your shiny motor hits the water, the aluminium will oxidise white and the brass will start to go green.
Purchase a trade size WD40 and keep everything liberally sprayed to retain your hard graft.
That's what WD40 is for - it doesn't hold a candle to Redex for penetrating.

- talking about penetration - ahh, Fairy Liquid. Yes you might know it over there as KY Jelly. Used extensively among our fey brethren . . .

I understand the Brighton Boys will be having their float as usual.

Sweeties.... Maybe we should enter a seagull float next year!

Did I see a seagull powered golf trolley, in one of the pictures?
I will have to have a go at my transom bracket and see if I can get it to shine like that.
A good wipe over with an oily rag is all it needs after use, the other half uses coconut oil, do you thing if I use coconut oil on the tank ,will take out some of the wrinkles?

yep. My fathers gold trolley was perfect for moving it about the place. Its not like he's been using it in all this bad weather!

I just soaked the bracket in caustic soda but what it really needed was a wire brush and a good scrub. Nothing else worked really.

Got O-rings down the local store. works perfect. ill post pics tomorrow some time. whats a good grease to use when lubricating moving parts on the motor?

Oh and some guy told me that Normal two storke oil for motorbikes would do on a seagull. i argued with him and he said his seagulls have been fine for the two years he's been running them. Im not sure but i said i would get EP 140 instead

ep 140 for the gearbox
you can run an old seagull on almost any oil,
The 1st one I owned in the mid 70's was run on 30 weight engine oil as 2 stroke was virtually unheard of, I have used 15/50 engine oil as it was all I had, my motors get a lot of long distance runs, the longest being 12 hours only stopping to refuel and that was using 30 weight engine oil.
But against what I have just said the old seagulls love the modern 2 stroke oils as they run cleaner and foul less plugs.

Interesting that this is a post for boat and motor pictures , very popular on other forums but here we have only 6 out of 27 posts with pictures ..WHY .....because you need to host your pictures elsewhere .....Time for a software upgrade me thinks so photos can be transfered form your own computer to the SOS computer direct ......

Now you all have a nice day ....

First picture of boat , trailer and outboard together in 7 years
Note spacer behind transom to get engine vertical because of missing adjustment holes in bracket

I may even get out on the water soon. I am only 2 miles from the sea and a ramp
