Not sure I approve of the end result, but I must applaud the quality of your engineering, the prop is a work of art, as is the rope sheave, as a purist I don't like the bronze flywheel but have to admit you've done an excellent job of it.

I hate to say this, but as a "hot rod" it looks very very good!

High praise indeed, thank you Charles , I note re your comment that that the original fly wheel and rope pull will sit in a box for ever bonded to this beast .
Oyster , The Ht lead you selected is available here ,a classic car guy resells that stuff , I'll look to obtain some .Not sure about the leather grip . I'd love to up grade to stainless nut and bolts and intend to in the future .I have a throttle lever for it and as you say ,"tinker with it for ever"
Rest assured Niander it will get wet , in the wheelie bin test bed today and in some of or lakes . I'm hoping to go with Tinker down to the Nelson Lakes Antique & Classic Boat Show, & Seagull Outboard Race Lake Rotoiti South. NZ in March and run it there , it would look really good on his british racing green long boat .
Charlesp , i've held a black tank in position and sitting on the black head as it does , it's like the brass tank ,brass exhaust , just a little too much of each in the one area . As i'm happy to grab that steampunk feel , a chromed one especially if I can achieve that tarnished look like Huggies one would be the go I'm thinking . Any way I need to decide which tank to chrome as I only have two and neither one is dent free .It can wait , my be I'll find a more suitable can i date .

Brilliant job. Glad that you will get it wet. I would use filler on one tank and spray it black then the white and gold tranfer. You can overdo the brass.

I had to make an adjustment to gear bush so I could get it out of gear , but it runs sweet with very little noise. Started first pull
. Little too much suds I'm sorry but dishwashing liquid is a fickle thing (makes the motor so much easier to clean ).
Runs really smooth and at low rpm .The balancing was money well spent . In the test tank it is hard to run motors flat out , 1) unproped they will easily over rev and break something 2) with the prop on they load up on their own wash it looks like the SD prop had plenty of bite and really interested to get it on the boat .
Very happy with how it ran and at this point I consider the flywheel conversion a real success .

Back to the frustrating job of trying to rebuild sliver centuries today ,they never seem to pump much water ,it's just such a fickle combination .The height of the impeller v's the gasket leaves me wanting to tear what hair out I have left . I have had this motor apart and back together so many times today , every minor adjustment I want to make involves breaking the whole thing down just about and still it looks like it has a bladder problem .
The compression ,the head and the head gaskets , well that's another story and for such a rudimentary timing system I wonder why any body ever thought these motors where worth racing . It's a wonder the bloody things even go at all !!
If any body has a fail safe method to make these pumps run well , I'd love to hear it . ~ I need a cuppa tea .

About the silver century..you must have a problem somewhere they normally cool very well
can you blow through the block /pipes easily?

going to remove the exhaust and clamp a hose to the copper feed tube to be sure there is no restriction . With air it 's good , just to be sure .

Take a pic of the pump housing as well. I wonder if the water tube is sitting in the pump housing snug.

I will blow air up tube to confirm feeder tube is indeed seated in pump housing
