I have near unused LS (forty) in its original box which has the black background. The general view is that it was original factory.

Probably not. I have a chrome tank on an AD though. Understand your "in door /out door" concept. Same theory as having mirrors under hot rods at shows....brilliant, thumbs up!

You have sparked an idea Huggy , I wonder about flashing lights or neons on the gull ? Make it the king of bling

I think an LED may be swaying away from the vintage steampunk theme of your motor. But a neon, well it's a little more traditional.
Something like

Or maybe an inline truly vintage one made of bakelite.
I was earlier going to suggest one of those brass 'spare spark plug' holders perhaps bolted to the transom bracket. If you can't find one it's just a bit of brass bar threaded for the plug, of course. I've seen these and wondered why anyone would bolt one i their engine bay on their car - wouldn't you just keep the plug all safe in its box somewhere in the glove box?
I suppose you may be able to find a lighting coil that would fit, and the addition of a suitable lamp from an antique shop may give an acceptable glow...
