Found a Forty featherweight in late uncle's boat shed and been working a few days on getting it running.
I got it started today, after cleaning the carb and tank, and working on the spark. Started after at least 10 years since my uncle passed away - probably many more perhaps 20, 30 (!) - on the third pull!
But I'm a bit unsure about the water cooling.
How much water do i need to have in the bucket? I think I may need to raise the bin higher, because when the prop starts turning then the water flows out of the bin.
I didn't get much water from the tell-tale, but I guess it was due to the possible lack of water as it was overflowing due to prop.
Any good tips for doing this?
Very happy to get this running. My uncle would have been happy. There's one more motor in the shed, I assume also a British Seagull but much larger than this Forty featherweight.

Easiest to remove the prop when testing in a bucket, to keep the water calm. Cooling water usually won’t come out at lowest idle, you just need to rev it a bit to get it pumping.
