SD2380.13.
Just got this SD , bit of a sad case but lots of good parts on it . Is there any significance to the tag attached to the Crank Case . Also what is the .13. about .

We have seen L3 and L4 on Army and Navy issued Seagulls of this era. No idea what they mean, lost in the mists of time!

Any idea on the other tag with a number on it , it also has evidence of Army Green paint on it .

Re: SD2380.13.
There has been a lot of posts on here regarding SD data, all will be revealed with some diligent searching.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
Re: SD2380.13.
SD2380 L3. The first lot of SD's were the P3 and second lot was the L3. And the last lot were the L4. Your is at the beginning of the the L3 range. Probably about 1943. You should have cast tank mounts, plain clutch lever and nipples on port side of box. The stamp on the skegg CIESS stands for Chief Inspector of Engineers and Signal Stores. The first SD's had a batch number but this is not one of them ie Bxxx. Incidentally SD2382 L3 is in South Africa or was a few year ago.

Thanks Hugo I have all those bits as described , actually the number is SD2360 big mechys fingers LOL . It was the other number I was enquiring about , it's on a plate fixed to the crankshaft bolts , stamped 8Q6Q6B and is also painted Army Green .Hugz wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 1:56 am SD2380 L3.
