Alternator wiring on 170
Looking for some info on the wiring on the alternator. Three wires coming out of a five or six pin connector.
Re: Alternator wiring on 170
I'm assuming it maybe the same as this. Five pin. reverse for high or low charge.

Re: Alternator wiring on 170
Unfortunately the instructions have gone walkabout. Annoying!
Re: Alternator wiring on 170
Found them! Don't have a scanner so this is the best I can do. Only two pages of written word.
Re: Alternator wiring on 170
Thanks for the pictures. Will give it a try soon. wasn't wanting to just connect and go incase I fried the rectifier. Many thanks again.
Re: Alternator wiring on 170
The alternator fitted to the Seagulls is a standard Lucas unit, there are 3 output wires and it is rectified. The Yellow and Green is negative, the other 2 wires both positive.
As the mickeymouse red and black plug and sockets were never sealed and rot away in a breath of salt air, and who ever wanted to rotate the things to get less amps anyway, it is better to ditch the set up.
Go to a good garden centre and buy a 2 pin (or 3 pin and just use 2 of the pins,) waterproof pond pump connector. Both parts. Wire the Yellow and Green as neg, join the other 2 wires together as the positive. Then wire direct to battery for DC charging...
This will give max of 4 amp output and the waterproof plug and socket will not give a problem. When you disconnect there is a waterproof cap to keep the pins and sockets corrosion free on both parts of the set up.
hope this also helps.

Re: Alternator wiring on 170
Is anyone able to re-post the pictures or info discussed in this thread? I’m after the same info and seems the pics have disappeared. Thanks!
