Newbie

Post by Road Dog »

Hi all, just bought a '75 Silver Century for a bit of fun on the river. Bought as a none runner but cleaned up the carb, lines, tank and plug and she struck up third pull. Probably a bit big for my little boat and didn't know what it was before buying. It was the right price in the right place. Maiden voyage tomorrow.
Wish me luck,
Andy

Ha, thanks. Well you know how it is , wet Labradors, crap to the tip, old pallets to make stuff you can't afford to buy - trucks are a must in this household

Not just any old "truck" Andy, but a vintage Chevy at that.
Very cool i have to say.
6 pot or v8?

The gull's not bad either!
You might find the motor might need to be lifted up a few inches for it to work a bit better than how you've got it set up right now.
Other than that it looks pretty good :P

Welcome aboard

Thanks Jon, it's a stock 4ltr inline 6. The whole truck is pretty muck stock and staying that way.
Thanks for the advise on lifting the Gull, I'll look into how to do it

Well, not a total success testing today but not a complete failure. Struck up first pull in thee water, went about 50 yards and shut the revs off and the engine stopped and wouldn't start again. I got it home about an hour later and it struck up again first pull. It seamed to be labouring in the water is this to do with it being too low? Could also be the not starting prob maybe? If so how do I lift the motor up?
Also is there any problem with getting water on the HT lead and plug as there would be with a car?
Thanks for any advise in advance
Andy
