I'm not sure but I'm open to suggestions :D Would there have been any advantage/disadvantage to having it set up like this. I won that carb on ebay that I posted and should have it next week, I think that has the same fitting as yours.

Other than draining fuel out of the carb, which is frowned upon if your on the water, its more likely to just leak, the other carb looks better, just add a fuel pipe.

I would ditch the additional fuel tap, the original set up works fine.

My transom bracket is looking a bit worse for wear :D

The only one I can find is this one, is this how mine would have looked except for the stainless steal latch, would it be ok to use it on my motor.
Thanks again for all the help.

The stainless one is just a later and more common one, it will still do the job.

Thats great thanks.

Doing a bit on the tank I have the dents filled primed and painted, I'll give it a coat of lacquer when I get a decal for it.

Cool work!

Well done in your efforts to date. I am following this work in progress of yours.

Which Gull Decal are you planning on getting?

I ordered the seagull with the ribbon from SOS along with a few other bits.

I know these gear boxes allow water in unlike other outboards but when they are run in salt water and then left for 20 odd years it can leave a bit of a mess  but at least I know why it wasn't turning :D

That's a bit better, all cleaned and turning smoothly :D

Green gearbox snot.

Easy to clean and done well.

It is when you open one up and it just dry rust and dust that hurts.

The tank straps were out of stock so as mine were rusted up I decided to make some up using an old stainless steal patio heater :D I opened up the band to fit over the heater drilled out the holes and bolted it on to hold it in place while I cut them out.

After a little polish two shinny new straps.

I also cut up an old bike inner tube to line the inside of the straps so they won't scratch the tank.

The rubber insert concept is the way to go. Ends up looking very neat indeed when thin and trimmed up along the edges.

I like the "Make Do" that ends up looking the goods also.

Care and attention while using your hands..................

Good work!
