Forty Featherweight carb float height

Post by Razler »

Hi, first post.. First Seagull.. And I like it!

Can anyone tell me how I set the float hight on a Villiers carb and to what measurement?

I guess the float arm pin gets driven in or pulled out accordingly?

Thanks

Hello and welcome on board!

There is no way to set the float height on a villiers carb. The float just float on the fuel and that's it. You push repeatedly the button until fuel comes out of the hole the carb has on the float bowl and you are ready to go. Just make sure that there in no fuel inside the float and everything is clean inside the float bowl and in general.
Float sitting lower than the appropriate possition may be a result of goo around it or some fuel inside it. The result you will see continuous fuel leaking.
Usually it's a matter of cleaning.

PS. Show us what you 've got.

Cheers

From an old Villiers manual:

... when the float is held up against the the float lever the distance between the top of the float and the underside of the carburetter body should be 7/32".
