I had the appropriate taps and dies. To fit helicoil would need to buy the appropriate tap for it so I decided to make the insert. I like making things! In addition I get the piece of the aluminum for free as it was leftover.

The red substance is thread locking glue.

The appropriate bolt that holds the gearbox cap in place had a smaller head than the usual. Does anyone has one spare? I would really appreciate if I could get one of this kind as I have one with the small head and one with the big head, as those used in the cylinders' heads.

Guys please give me some instructions on what to do with the tank. I want to paint it black. I tried to remove the ends but I destroyed a oval brass tank. Filling? With what material?

The plated parts are zinc plated apart from the ears that holds the tank, these are nickel plated. The platter suggested so because it is brass.

I use normal car filler . You need a brass trumpet from john. Nice work though.

Thanks for the info about car filler.

The tube was first grinned by hand with even 1000 grit wet&dry. Then zinc platted.

I know that it's not the correct tank but I can't afford the correct right now.. maybe later.

Stelios I presume you had to take the tube out to plate it?
you need to put it back in turn it 1/2 a turn ...gear lever should be on the right mate..this will also mean it will bend up...better
like the zinc plating and that's original finish I think.

I know that the clutch lever is in the wrong place.. I continued this oddity because of an oil nipple on the pump housing. If I fit the shaft correctly then the oil nipple could not send oil to the bearing located where the drive shaft housing ends. Of course I can alway drill a hole on the other side.. That would solve everything. But? Is it maybe more original to leave it with this error?
I am thinking that maybe she left the factory like that.

Me too, I had visions of Greek islands, blue skies, delightful little boat with trusty seagull on the back, sandy beaches bottles of cold beer, and a couple of scantily clad women just for good measure.

I have a small inflatable but I want to try my Seagulls on a wooden boat or at least from fiberglass. By the way whoever buy this boat on ebay will have to rasp and rasp and rasp...

Nice job Stelios, like the spark plug cap and the throttle lever...

The tank is incorrect, but we can live with that. Those tanks straps are wrong for the engine, and as others have noted the clutch lever is upside down and on the wrong side. The brackets holding the tank to the block should be cast alluminium ones, but they are hard to find. Nice to see the correct grip on the tiller.

The flywheel nut is not quite right, I am going to make some new ones, so when I do I'll send you one. Also I assume you are going to make a copper fuel pipe to the right shape?

Keep up the good work! Somebody with a tank for sale really ought to offer you a good deal...the straps are available in stainless or zinc plated on ebay.

I know that the clutch lever is on the wrong side but couldn't have left the factory this way? I am assuming that because of the oil nipple etc.

I can find locally the correct tank straps in s/s. I think I will go for them. Thanks for your kind offer about the flywheel nut. The correct fuel line is only matter of time!

It's not a bad idea that about a good deal for the proper tank.. don't know
