So now I've cleaned up the clamps I had , with out wanting to over do it . Not looking to produce a "brand new" sixty year old motor .

The fly wheel I'd been so kindly given has arrived , A brass one off a Villiers stationary motor like this

so my next trick is to change over the centre mounting bush by drilling out the screws , need to find a drill press for that .as I my ex now has custody of mine ( my arms where full when I ran out the door )

Pleased with the mornings work , just need have it balanced . A buddy of mine had a drill press and a polishing mop in his work shop too so gave it a lick with that .
I like your effort Keith ,nice , you even have a the pull cord top . when did you do that and which motor is it ?

A mate of mine Mike does foundry work and has a healthy thirst . So I'm dropping off some beer and a couple of bits. a gear lever and a pull cord top to see if he'll do them in bronze for me .

I meet another good guy last Sunday , while picking up a motor I purchased on trade me for parts ( the block had cracked )

Bryan , had restored a few seagulls and moved along to american motors . In the process of collection he showed me around his family of motors , including the one he's standing behind which is his current project , the picture in the cowl is him some 60 years before beside the same model his father had just brought to replace a seagull lost in a house fire .This was just one of the stories he pasted on , it was lovely to spend time with him . Just goes to show you never know what you might find .

Since I've got the motor mostly in bits I've taken the opportunity to fill some offending holes in the exhaust pipe , I'm too tight to buy a new one :lol: I

dress of the excess , there will still be a little tell tale mark ,but when it's polished up it should be okay . , I'm going the whole way with the flywheel and getting it dressed on the lathe and balanced . can't wait to have that back.

the gear lever , really hard to sand the ball up with out flat spots , but it looks okay .
