Let me be one of the first to welcome you, Pete.
This site created by John Williams truly attains its goal and purpose...saving old Seagulls.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Hi Pete
Welcome to the site where you become crazed by these wee engines.
You'll soon have a few, it's a certainty. We've all been through it. Mind you, some put parts in the dishwasher or oven so if you're married be prepared for some harsh words from the missus.
Enjoy the site, I'm sure you will. The guys here have years of experience and knowledge, and give it freely, it's great for non-mechanical guys like myself to learn.
Don't be scared to ask questions, if it's not on the site previously, the guys will give you their wisdom. Some good ........some duff, but you'll get their.
On all seriousness, you'll get help and good advice and we've even got our own guy for spares, John SOS. One bit of advice, check John's prices before you buy from fle-ebay, there's more chance the bargains aren't bargains, and John's parts are genuine and well priced.

Re: First time here
That's good advice from Gerard. John is very good.
A further warning about Ebay - there are lots of people selling stuff that's wrongly described, sometimes in a condition that's unusable, and frequently hopelessly optimistic about what'll fit what. John is genuinely knowledgeable.

Re: First time here
my century plus was the same.....ultrasonic cleaned the carb and float chamber and made sure everything was spotless...
remove ht lead and check it has continuity between both ends.
where the ht lead fits into the coil i cleaned the contact with a dremel and refitted everything.
mine fired up first time and i had no spark when i bought it.
my coil was ok as i checked with a multi meter but i had a duff ht lead.
when i fitted the new lead i still had no spark hence i cleaned the coil contact

Welcome aboard, Pete. Hope you enjoy your engine both during restoration and in use!
