Re: Marston block...long shot!
If i was working there a few "extras" would have been made

Re: Marston block...long shot!
There were plenty of extras made trouble is they have already been sold at a premium
Now come clean we are wanting to know what your up to! Might know where there's a block and exhaust but can't say

Re: Marston block...long shot!
I doubt they made a lot of extras, Marston had a very "modern" production facility they even did time & motion studies on the component production, these included fettling time, sorry nothing on the cylinders.
The costs of machining a bare casting to a finished cylinder were considerable & putting 50 on the shelf might well have taken them out of the profit side of the line into the loss side, in their new outboard division.
And I can't belive British Seagull when they took over, would want to keep spares on the shelf that didn't fit any of their product range, more likley in the middle of a major resession they would assemble as many motors they could from the Marston spares holding, to get some money try to recoup some of their investment.

Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
