What is the paint of choice when restoring a Seagull. (Etching primer then Hamerite silver?)

That's what I use, but not the Hammerite special primer, I did a large aluminium 730cc twin engine block with it and all lifted off, took me two days to put right and its brush paint, not spray, but that's me.
So I use another make of spray Etching primer and it works very well with Hammertie.
Not all seagull gearboxes need painting, just polishing.

I use U-Pol etch primer.

Hammerite smooth silver,

Simoniz satin tough black.

All these paints are from my experience petrol proof.

Thin coats, then stick in a warm place for a couple of days.

On the radiator also works well

For many alloy bits I grit-blast them with 'AD' grade crushed glass. This leaves a dull yet polished finish that doesn't pick up dirt & fingerprints like coarse Garnet grit can

Powder coating looks good too

Also using 'International' brand 'PA10' etch primer & spray finishing with PPG '2K' automotive paints & clears. This makes for spectacular fuel tanks.

I'm still trying to source a fuel proof clear lacquer in a spray can in oz. Any ideas? Halford's doesn't seem to be available over here and apparently it is too flammable to post.
